WHAT WE'VE ACHIEVED

  • Updated Wellness Policy for CSD #49, including the policy framework for Farm to School and School Garden programs

  • Created a Farm to School sub-committee of Chimacum’s Wellness Advisory Committee

  • Procured equipment upgrades for Chimacum main kitchen in support of Farm to School

  • Sponsored training for Chimacum and Port Townsend Food Services staff in support of Farm to School implementation

  • Secured grant funding and launched weekly garden education classes for Chimacum preschool through 6th grade

  • Seedwork Chimacum partnership, including funding for expanded food & farm Career & Technical Education at Chimacum High School, including:

    • FEED Lecture Series at CHS, (Food, Education & Enterprise Development)

    • Launched FEED Truck, a school-based food truck enterprise. This included raising funds, purchasing and donating truck to Chimacum School District, managing truck retrofit and equipment upgrades, supporting curriculum and program development, and supporting student FEED Truck workers with stipends.

  • Built a Healing Garden of edible and medicinal native plants to welcome visitors to Chimacum Schools

  • Built and manage a low-volume rotational production garden at Chimacum Junior/Senior High School that supports cooking experiences for elementary students, the high school culinary program, and the school cafeteria

  • Produced Field Trips to Chimacum Valley Grainery, Organic Seed Alliance, and Dharma Ridge Farm’s U-Pick Pumpkin Patch at Glendale Farm
