The students are back at Port Townsend High School and Jen Kruse, Culinary Arts teacher, won the first Howard Learned Award from Skillmation for her efforts during COVID. Jen is seen in these photos with her class. Garden Coordinator Zach Gayne is building with the students on the volunteer efforts this past COVID year when schools were closed. Full circle.
Corn is ready to plant from the Community Seed Project with Swan Farm Food Bank Garden manager, Karen Seabrook.
Lettuce and tomatoes are growing in the newly re-skinned hoop house. Squash has been planted. Asparagus are ferning out and cabbage and peas are looking formidable.
Today the last of the chard was harvested for the PT Senior Saturday Food Bank.
The High School’s Students for Sustainability have adopted and planted the back corner of the garden and added a beautiful and outrageously comfortable bench.
